Version 2026-08-31. These are the rules for using BFME Arena. Creating an account or continuing to use the service means you accept them.
BFME Arena is a free, community run service for playing Battle for Middle Earth online. It is operated by Joël Pinna, contactable at joelpinna@gmail.com. It is not affiliated with Electronic Arts or with the rights holders of the games.
You need to be at least 16 years old to have an account.
Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you, so if you think someone else has access, change your password and tell us.
One person, one account, unless an admin has agreed otherwise. Extra accounts used to dodge a ban, to manipulate the ladder, or to enter a tournament twice will be removed. Some arenas and tournaments are marked as not allowing alternate accounts, and you will be warned before you enter one.
Play the games properly and treat other players decently. The things that will get you sanctioned are the obvious ones: cheating or using tools that give you an unfair advantage, deliberately losing or manipulating results, harassing or abusing other people, posting content that is illegal or hateful, and trying to break or overload the service.
Admins can issue warnings, timeouts and bans, and can remove results that were not earned fairly. If you think a sanction was wrong you can appeal it from the client or from the website, and a human will look at it.
You keep ownership of what you write and upload. By posting it here you give us permission to show it as part of the service. We can remove anything that breaks these rules.
Match results, replays and ladder positions are part of the shared record of the game. They are visible to other players and they stay visible.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings on the website. Your personal details are removed after 7 days and you can cancel during that period.
Your display name and your match history stay after deletion. Ladder positions, replays and tournament results belong to the games they came from and to the other players in them, so they are not removed. Please be sure you are comfortable with that before you sign up. Bans and moderation records also stay, so deleting an account does not clear a sanction.
This is a free service run by volunteers. We do our best to keep it up and to look after your data, but we cannot promise it will always be available, that matches will never break, or that data will never be lost. The service is provided as is.
We may change how the service works, add and remove features, and close arenas or tournaments. If we ever have to shut the service down we will give as much notice as we reasonably can.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
The privacy policy explains what we store and why. It is part of these terms by reference, but it is an explanation rather than something you agree to: you do not sign away privacy rights by using the service.
If these terms change in a way that matters we will ask you to read them again the next time you sign in. Carrying on using the service after that means you accept the new version.
Dutch law applies to these terms.
